KGF gene therapy mediated by attenuated Salmonella ameliorates ulcerative colitis induced by acetic acids, and it may be a safe and effective treatment for ulcerative colitis.
In this study, we have investigated the expression and distribution of KGF in normal and diseased (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis(UC)) intestine by quantitative competitive reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction in whole biopsies and purified lamina propria myofibroblasts and by in situ hybridization.
Here we demonstrate a strikingly increased expression of KGF in surgical specimens from patients suffering from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
