After the meal, the gastrin concentrations rose significantly during saline infusion, whereas the GLP-1 infusion suppressed the secretion of gastrin significantly, most pronounced in the diabetes patients. Conclusions: The results show that GLP-1 infusion suppresses the postprandial secretion of gastrin in normal subjects and even more so in the diabetes patients.
The synthesized hollow SnO₂/ZnO heterojunctions nanofibers were further employed to be a gas-sensing material for detection of volatile organic compound (VOC) species such as acetone vapor, which is proposed as a gas biomarker for diabetes.
We assessed the impact of the CCKA and CCKB receptor modulators, (pGlu-Gln)-CCK-8 and gastrin-17, respectively, on β-cell secretory function, proliferation and apoptosis and glucose tolerance, and investigating alterations of CCK and gastrin islet expression in diabetes.
Gastric atrophy results in lower plasma ghrelin, higher gastrin secretion, a change in gut microbiota, and altered dietary nutrient absorption, which may be associated with the incidence of diabetes.
Higher gastrin levels in patients with diabetes prior to initiation of treatment with incretin mimetics could suggest a better potential for reversible human β-cell reprogramming with concomitant incretin therapy.
