Serum sTyro3, sAxl, sMer, and Gas6 levels were measured using ELISA in 67 JSLE patients, 12 juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) inflammatory and 20 healthy controls and related with SLEDAI-2K score, anti-dsDNA antibody, ESR, CRP, C3, C4 levels, and nephritis.
Those parameters correlated with SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI) score, GAS6 being higher in the most severe cases, while free and total ProS were lower.
The level of Gas6 and Axl were significantly altered in the SLE patients (p < 0.001) and in the BD patients (p 0.001 and 0.04 respectively) compared to those of the control.
In conclusion, GAS6 polymorphism is positively associated with cutaneous vasculitis in SLE patients, which suggests that GAS6 polymorphism could be a genetic marker for SLE with cutaneous vasculitis.
