Additionally, the expression of c-Myc was positively correlated with that of miR-141 and the clinical stages of NPC patients and negatively associated with the expression of BRD7.
The bromodomain-containing protein 7 (BRD7) was first identified as a tumor suppressor in nasopharyngeal carcinoma and has critical roles in cancer development and progression.
Our findings demonstrate that the BRD7/miR-141/PTEN/AKT axis has critical roles in the progression of NPC and provide some promising targets for the diagnosis and treatment of NPC.
Taken together, these results will help to better understand the role of the BRD7 gene in signal-dependent transcriptional regulation, and to develop new reagents for therapeutic upregulation of the BRD7 gene in NPC.
Taken together, the present study indicated that BRD7 inhibited G1-S progression by transcriptionally regulating some important molecules involved in ras/MEK/ERK and Rb/E2F pathways and suggested that BRD7 may present a promising candidate of NPC trade mark associated tumor suppressor gene.
