Within the hematological malignancies, IFN-alpha2 has only recently been revived in patients with the Philadelphia-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms-essential thrombocytosis, polycythemia vera, and myelofibrosis (MPNs)-and in patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) in combination with tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
BACKGROUND The objective of this study was to characterize the incidence and impact of immunogenicity to interferon-a (IFN-α-2a, IFN-α-2b, and Peg-IFN-α-2a) over a period of 12 months in patients with BCR/ABL-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs).

The dendritic cell/NK cell cross-talk in ABL/ABL-induced CML seems unique because JunB or IFN consensus sequence binding protein loss of functions, associated with other myeloproliferative disorders, do not promote dendritic cell-mediated NK cell activation.
