This randomized controlled study aimed to identify the possible relationship of the genetic variations in the IL-18 gene with AR in mite-sensitive Thai patients.
This study was designed to investigate the association of the IL-18 gene SNPs (-137 G/C [rs187238], and -140 C/G [rs360721]) with AR and AD, as well as their relations to the diseases' severity.
In conclusion, polymorphisms of the IL-18 gene promoter at -607C/A and -137G/C were associated with allergic rhinitis in bronchial asthma, indicating that polymorphisms of the IL-18 gene promoter at -607C/A and -137G/C differentially affect the pathogenesis of asthma and allergic rhinitis.
This study was undertaken to analyse the allergen induced in vitro mRNA expression of IL-18, SLAM and GATA-3 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of children with allergic rhinitis (AR) during SLIT.
