Here, we also demonstrate that CCR9+ memory T cells preferentially infiltrate into the inflamed CNS resulting from the initial phase and that they express LAG3 in the late phase in the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis mouse model of multiple sclerosis.
Interpretation: This is an initial exploration of the utility of CTLA-4, PD-1, TIM-3, LAG-3, and TIGIT expression levels as prognostic indicators in untreated, recently diagnosed multiple sclerosis.
After additional genotyping in stage two, two genes--each containing at least three significantly (P<0.05) associated SNPs--conferred susceptibility to MS: LAG3 on chromosome 12p13, and IL7R on 5p13.
