Finally, from our panel of miRNAs deregulated in BC, reduced miR-30c expression was associated with more aggressive BC in very young patients, lower overall survival, and with axillary lymph node metastases.
By comparing the expression and clinical data of miR-29b and miR-30c in the cancer tissues of PCa patients, it was observed that age, smoking, and TNM staging were not related to miR-29b and miR-30c expression (p>0.05), while lymph node metastasis, bone metastasis, and Gleason score were related to the expression of miR-29b and miR-30c (p<0.01).
We also found miR-183-5p and miR-486-5p were significantly correlated with tumor TNM stage (P < 0.05), and miR-30c-2-3p and miR-133a-3p were associated with tumor differentiation degree and lymph-node metastasis (P < 0.05).
In general, primary tumors and LNM presented similar microRNA expression profiles but specific variations like the down-regulation of miR-7-2-3p and miR-30c-2-3p in LNM were observed.
