Our data demonstrate that myelin protein zero (MPZ, P0) and peripheral myelin protein 22 (PMP22) promoters produce greater GFP expression in schwannoma cell lines than myelin basic protein (MBP) promoter.
In schwannoma cells that are not in contact with an axon, the expression levels of the major myelin sheath proteins, such as protein zero glycoprotein (P0), myelin basic protein (MBP), and peripheral myelin protein 22 (PMP22), were greatly reduced.
The semi-differentiated Schwannoma cell line 56-24 and the less differentiated Schwannoma cell line 64-39 were established from peripheral nerve sheath tumors arising in transgenic mice of the MBP/SV40 large T strain Tg29.
