The DNA profile of NCH-1 was most similar to those of strain 297 (human cerebrospinal fluid isolate, Connecticut) and strain PAL (human erythema migrans isolate, New York) and most dissimilar from those of strain P/Gau (human erythema migrans isolate, Germany) and strain IPF (Ixodes persulcatus tick isolate, Japan).

The GR mRNA content and basal as well as dexamethasone-induced MTII mRNA levels in PAM from patients with sarcoidosis is not significantly different from those in healthy volunteers.
We have identified a cDNA encoding human peptidylglycine alpha-amidating monooxygenase (PAM; EC 1.14.17.3) with a total length of 3748 bp by screening of a human thyroid carcinoma lambda gt11 library using two heterologous oligonucleotides to conserved regions which derived from frog skin and bovine pituitary PAM sequences.
The enhancement of L-PAM cytotoxicity to resistant cells by buthionine sulfoximine and hyperthermia was accompanied by a proportional increase of MOAB F7-26 binding to DNA.
This tumor was 2- to 3-fold resistant to L-PAM and 3-(p-fluorophenyl)-L-alanyl-3-[m-bis-(2-chloroethyl)-aminophenyl]-L- alanyl-L-methionine ethoxyhydrochloride, cross-resistant to cyclophosphamide and ifosfamide, and completely resistant to VCR under in vivo conditions.
To determine whether selection for primary resistance to L-PAM conferred cross-resistance to VCR we selected an L-PAM-resistant subline of rhabdomyosarcoma xenograft HxRh28 (HxRh28/L-PAM-13).

MoAb PAL-M1 reacted with all 15 melanoma metastases (MM), with 14 of 19 primary cutaneous melanomas (PCM), 9 of 35 dysplastic nevi (DN), and 2 of 26 NN.

Moreover, the sequence had a high degree of similarity to the peptidoglycan-associated outer membrane lipoprotein P6 of Haemophilus influenzae and the peptidoglycan-associated lipoprotein PAL of E. coli.
Immunocytochemistry (Ulex, factor VIII, JC/70A [CD31], PAL-E, BMA120, EN4, QBEnd10 [CD34], SMS actin) and ultrastructural studies showed no (marked) differences between different types of IMF.

Primary rat pituitary cells cultures from hypo- and euthyroid rats in the presence of actinomycin D showed that hypothyroidism increased the half-life of PAM mRNA from 9-10 h to 15-17 h. Taken together, these data suggest that hypothyroidism induces PAM mRNA levels by increasing its stability in the cytoplasm.
We determined the concentrations of copper, the activities of ceruloplasmin and peptidylglycine alpha-amidating monooxygenase (PAM), and the stimulation index of PAM by the in vitro addition of copper in plasma samples obtained from three male patients with occipital horns and a milder Menkes disease phenotype, having severe copper deficiency due to the defect in copper transport.
A 2-year-old girl with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) showing a t(4;11)(q21;q23) karyotype underwent allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (BMT) with the conditioning regimen of L-PAM (70 mg/m2/d for 3 days), busulfan (140 mg/m2/d for 2 days), and total body irradiation (12 Gy).

In agreement with our molecular analysis, 1) VIP was the most potent peptide among VIP-related peptides (VIP > PACAP > PHM > PHV) to stimulate cAMP production through specific type 1 VIP receptors in both PTEC and LT-TEC; 2) cAMP generation was induced by CGRP in PTEC and by CT in LT-TEC; 3) in frozen thymic sections and by flow cytometry, type 1 VIP-R, CGRP-R, and CT-R were localized in epithelial cells; and 4) in parallel, the transcription of the acetylcholine receptor alpha subunit (the main autoantigen in MG) was induced by CGRP and CT in PTEC and LT-TEC, respectively.
We describe (i) an efficient recombinant approach to produce PAL enzyme, (ii) testing of PAL in orthologous N-ethyl-N'-nitrosourea (ENU) mutant mouse strains with HPA, and (iii) proofs of principle (PAL reduces HPA)-both pharmacologic (with a clear dose-response effect vs. HPA after PAL injection) and physiologic (protected enteral PAL is significantly effective vs. HPA).
