Here, we will discuss the important role of thrombospondins and pigment epithelium-derived factor, two major endogenous inhibitors of angiogenesis, in retinal and choroidal vascular homeostasis and their potential alterations during AMD and choroidal neovascularization (CNV).
The aim of this study was to validate the previously reported association of the PEDFMet72Thr variant in a well characterized Japanese population with neovascular AMD and PCV.
The primary objectives of this investigation are: (1) to assess the safety, tolerability and feasibility of intravitreal injection of Ad(GV)PEDF.11D in patients with severe, neovascular AMD, (2) to identify the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of Ad(GV)PEDF.11D, and (3) to get some indication of potential activity of Ad(GV)PEDF.11D.
