Our data suggest that the PROGINS PGR polymorphism does not directly predispose to migraine but significantly delays migraine onset probably via a reduction in brain neuronal excitability.
A total of 10 markers in the ESR1 gene showed association with migraine ( P < 0.05) in the Norfolk Island population. No association was detected with PGR .
Role of the oestrogen receptor (ESR1 PvuII and ESR1 325 C->G) and progesterone receptor (PROGINS) polymorphisms in genetic susceptibility to migraine in a North Indian population.
The aim of this study was to investigate the role of common polymorphisms in the estrogen receptor gene (ESR1) and the progesterone receptor gene (PGR) in the risk for migraine in a Spanish population.
In this study, we tested the association of two female hormonal genes, progesterone receptor (PGR) and estrogen receptor (ESR1), which were previously reported to be associated with migraine in women.
