Among primary CRACs, decreased Par3 expression was found to correlate with a high proliferation rate and poor histologic differentiation, decreased PKCζ expression was correlated with pathologic TNM stage (I-II vs III-IV) and lymph node metastasis, and decreased Par6β and PKCζ expressions were correlated with shortened overall survivals.
Negative PAR-3 protein expression, but not negative ZO-1 or claudin-1 expression, was significantly associated with deeper tumor invasion (P<.01), positive lymph node metastasis (P=.03), and advanced tumor stage (P=.01).
Expression of PARD3 was significantly reduced in primary ESCC tumors compared with their nontumorous counterparts, and this reduced expression was associated with positive lymph node metastasis and poor differentiation.
