Together, our study suggests an auto-regulatory feedback loop between Cip2a and miR-301a and this auto-regulatory loop might play an important role in TNBC progression.
We explored the CIP2A mRNA expression in a publically available database and found that higher levels of CIP2A mRNA is associated with worse recurrence-free survival in patients with TNBC.
Collectively, these data suggested that Cip2a effectively promotes TNBC cell cycle progression and tumor growth via regulation of PP2A/c-myc/p27Kip1 signaling, which could serve as a potential therapeutic target for TNBC patients.
Univariate analysis indicated that CIP2A expression was related to histological grade, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis, and triple-negative breast cancer (P = 0.001, 0.001, 0.001, and 0.001, respectively).
