In summary, AngII-induced hypertension associated with T. cruzi infection may act synergistically to increase TNF and CX3CL1 in the 2K1C rat model, thereby intensifying cardiac inflammatory infiltration and worsening the underlying inflammation triggered by this protozoan.
Taken together, these results indicate that CMS of VSMCs induces inflammation-related gene expression, including that of CXCL1 and CX3CL1, which may play important roles in the stress response against CMS caused by hypertension.
Increased serum levels of interleukin-12 and CX3CL1 were also observed in patients with pulmonary hypertension, particularly in those with pulmonary hypertension associated with connective tissue disorder.
