We set out to characterize the expression of CD43 by FC in B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders and to determine its possible role in the differential diagnosis of these malignancies.

Malignancy in these low-grade lymphomas is often inferred by immunoglobulin light-chain restriction and expression of CD43; molecular genetic evidence is sought only if these are in doubt.
This is the first report of genetic alterations in the spn gene in a human malignancy and suggests that genetic alterations in spn and the resulting immunohistochemical phenotypes based on SPN subcellular localization in CRCs may be useful in determining prognosis of patients with subtypes of CRC.
