Additionally, we screened the mRNA expressions of 47 types of different glycosyltransferases and found that α1,6-fucosyltransferase 8 (FUT8) was the most up-regulated and contributed to strengthen the LCA binding capability to fucosylated modified ANXA2 and HSP90B1 after HCV infection.
There was no significant difference in the expression of GRP94 mRNA, spliced X box binding protein 1 (sXBP1) mRNA, C/EBP homologous protein mRNA (CHOP) and ER degradation enhancing α-mannosidase-like protein (EDEM) mRNA and GRP78 protein between patients with HCV and NDL.
These data indicate that HCV E2 blocks apoptosis induced by HCV infection and the host immune system through overproduction of GRP94, and that HCV E2 plays an important role in persistent HCV infection.
