Receiver operating characteristic curves for differentiating HCCfrom liver cirrhosis revealed a higher area under the curve(AUC).for vimentin than for AFP, lamin B1, and anti-Ku86 for the diagnosis of HCC (P<0.001).
The methylation frequencies of SOX1 and VIM promoters in HCC patients were significantly higher than those in LC (p<0.001 and p<0.001), CHB (p<0.001 and p<0.001) and HC (p<0.001 and p<0.001) subjects.
Infections caused by VIM-1-producing strains were more frequently associated with a recent prior hospitalization (P = 0.006), cirrhosis (P = 0.03), relapse of infection (P < 0.001), and more prolonged duration of antibiotic therapy (P = 0.01) than were other infections.
