We investigated the association of the common variations of the DNA repair genes XRCC1 and XRCC4 with susceptibility to endometriosis in an Iranian population.
We concluded that XRCC1 399 Arg-related genotype and allele are correlated with higher susceptibility to endometriosis, which suggested its association with endometriosis pathogenesis.
The distributions of genotypes and alleles of the genes APE1, XRCC1, XRCC3, XPD, XPG, and HOGG1 were not significantly associated with the different stages of endometriosis (P > 0.05).
We concluded that XRCC1Arg399Gln polymorphism is associated with higher susceptibility to endometriosis and XRCC1Arg399Gln polymorphism might be a useful biomarker for endometriosis.
