Our previous study indicated that Aurora-B is involved in osteosarcoma (OS) cell invasion and metastasis; however, the mechanism underlying Aurora-B overexpression in OS remains unknown.
AURKB messenger RNA expression was higher in primary carcinomas, and solid metastases obtained prechemotherapy compared with postchemotherapy (P < .001 and P = .012, respectively), with no such difference in effusions (P > .05).
Overexpression of Aurora-A readily transforms rat-1 and NIH3T3 cells, but not primary cells, whereas overexpression of Aurora-B induces metastasis after implantation of tumors in nude mice.
