Tumor into the stomach wall caused a decrease in the number of CART-positive (+) nerve fibers in the longitudinal (LML) and circular muscle layers (CML).
Tumour growth into the colon wall caused an increase in the relative frequency of CART-like immunoreactive (CART-LI) neurons in enteric plexuses located in the vicinity of the infiltrating neoplasm (to 36.1 ± 6.7%, 32.7 ± 7.3% and 12.1 ± 3.8% of all neurons in MP, OSP and ISP, respectively).
These observations warrant further research on CART-33 treatment in refractory AML and may spur efforts to extend the CART-33-induced tumor burden to the preparation of other intensive strategies, such as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
