MRI enhanced FLAIR sequence scan combined with TNF-α in cerebrospinal fluid has the highest rate in early diagnosis of neonatal purulent meningitis, and it is worthy of clinical promotion.
The results showed that i) neonatal PM often lacked specific clinical manifestations; ii) high risk factors of neonatal PM included gestational age, body weight <2,500 g, neonatal asphyxia, premature rupture of membranes, and umbilical or pulmonary infection; iii) the levels of CRP and β2MG in the cerebrospinal fluid in the neonatal PM group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05), and the neonatal PM group had obviously decreased levels of CRP and β2MG in the cerebrospinal fluid after treatment compared with those before treatment (P<0.05); iv) the positive rate of Gram-negative bacilli (G-bacilli) showed an increasing trend year by year in the past 4 years.

Based on our analyses, the levels of CD64 and PCT in cerebrospinal fluid can be used to predict the degree and long-term prognosis of hearing impairment caused by purulent meningitis in children.
