We calculated a validated composite score (IFN-CK) of three type I IFN-inducible chemokines (CCL2/CXCL10/CCL19) measured in 109 SLE patients (median 7 occasions over 3.2 years).
The aim of the study was to investigate the role of the MCP-1 gene polymorphism as early predictors of the development of glomerulonephropathy in SLE patients.
Significant increases in IFN score (p < 0.0001), STAT1 (p < 0.0001), miR-146a (p < 0.0005), CCL2 (p = 0.0047), and CXCL10 (p = 0.017), as well as a significant decrease in pri-miR-146a (p = 0.0002), were detected in the anemic SLE patient visits (n = 52) compared to non-anemic SLE visits (n = 128).
Results showed that splenic granulocytic (G-)MDSCs were significantly expanded by increasing the expression of CCR1 (CC chemokine receptor 1) in diseased MRL/lpr lupus mice and in high-disease-activity SLE patients.
The cell surface expression of the chemokine receptors CXCR5 and CCR6 was decreased in SLE patients compared with controls (P = 0.051 and P = 0.002, respectively).
